Terms of use
These terms apply to the HashHackCode Academy Chrome extension and the workshop site at act.hashhackcode.com, provided by HashHackCode. By using them you agree to these terms.
Who can use it
The extension is for people taking part in a HashHackCode workshop: students who join a session with a passcode from their mentor, and mentors and staff with a workshop account. Where a student needs a parent’s or guardian’s consent to take part, the school or organiser arranging the workshop is responsible for obtaining it.
Your account and passcodes
- Join only sessions you have been invited to, with your own name and contact details.
- Mentors: keep your password private and sign out on shared computers.
- Do not share a session passcode outside the group it was given to.
Acceptable use
When you use the extension or the site, do not:
- post anything unlawful, hateful, harassing or inappropriate for a classroom in chat or questions;
- capture or send screenshots of other people’s private information, or anything that is not your workshop work;
- try to access sessions, accounts or data that are not yours, or interfere with the service or other users;
- copy, resell or misuse the lesson materials outside the workshop.
Mentors and organisers may remove messages or switch off a student’s access to a session, and we may suspend access, if these terms are broken.
Your work
You keep ownership of the work you create. By sending screenshots, answers and messages, you allow HashHackCode and the mentors of your session to store, view and comment on them to run the workshop. See the privacy policy for how that information is handled.
Lesson materials
Tasks, slides and quizzes belong to HashHackCode or to the organiser that provides them, and are for use in the workshop.
Availability
We work to keep the extension and the site running and accurate, but they are provided “as is”. Features may change, and sessions may be interrupted — for example by network problems or maintenance.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, HashHackCode is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the extension or the site, or for content posted by other users. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that cannot be limited.
Changes
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and for significant changes tell users in the extension or on this site. Continuing to use the extension after a change means you accept the updated terms.
